2024 household food insecurity (10 provinces, Canadian Income Survey): - National overall: 25.5% (~10 million people) — "the highest in the almost twenty years of monitoring." Third consecutive annual increase. - National severe: 6.7% (up from 6.0% in 2023); moderate 12.4% (up from 10.9% in 2023). - Children under 18: 32.9% lived in a food-insecure household (~2.5 million children). - Alberta overall: 30.9% — among the highest of any province. Alberta severe: 8.7%.

Longer Alberta trend (per PROOF / AHS, corroborated elsewhere): food insecurity roughly doubled, from ~12.3% (2011) to 20.3% (2022), and reached 30.9% by 2024.
