The Edmonton Police Association (EPA) — the police union — filed 24 code-of-conduct complaints against Councillor Michael Janz. The complaint was lodged Jan 10, 2022 by Sgt. Michael Elliott, EPA president, on his own behalf and the association's, citing 24 of Janz's tweets/Twitter interactions as biased, offensive, disrespectful to EPS members, and misleading. Edmonton Integrity Commissioner Jamie Pytel assessed each and, in a February 2022 ruling, found all 24 without merit — no breach of the code.

Janz's statement: "I feel this was a blatant attempt at intimidation intended to silence an elected official in their first three months in office."
