Documented facts — the Israeli platforms

  • Elbit Hermes 450 — medium UAV, 20+ hr endurance; the main platform used to strike targets in Gaza (e.g. Operation "Breaking Dawn," Aug 2022).
  • Elbit Hermes 900 — MALE UAV, >30,000 ft, 36 hr endurance; 120+ orders across 20+ countries including Canada.
  • IAI Heron / Heron TP "Eitan" — MALE UAVs up to 52 hr / 10.5 km; the Eitan/Heron TP is capable of "intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance as well as armed roles." Aerial surveillance over Gaza was provided by Heron and Hermes 450 UAVs.
  • These are military platforms: large, weaponizable, long-endurance, used for both persistent surveillance AND air-to-ground strikes on Palestinians, then exported.

Why this file exists (the honesty pivot for the EPS drone claim)

The Israeli drone-warfare pipeline is real and documented — but the platforms above are a different class of machine from anything a municipal police force flies. EPS operates small commercial-class quadcopters (see eps-rpas-drone-program.md), not Hermes/Heron military UAVs, and there is no source placing an armed or "assassination" drone in EPS hands. The defensible link is therefore: 1. a shared surveillance-drone doctrine (persistent aerial watch of a subject population — the thing both a MALE UAV over Gaza and a police quadcopter over an encampment perform in kind), and 2. the fact that Canada is a documented customer of the Israeli military-drone export stream (Hermes 900) — a state-level procurement, NOT an EPS one. Do NOT let these facts be read as "EPS flies Israeli killer drones." They do not. State the doctrine parallel and the national procurement; refuse the platform conflation.
