Armoured Rescue Vehicle (ARV2 / "Black Wolf")¶

Cost: $500,000
Ford F-550 chassis; armoured hull and windows rated to stop .50 calibre rounds; equipped with gun ports.
Replaces the "Grizzly" military-surplus vehicle donated in 2007.

Drone fleet¶

10 drones, ranging dinner-plate to toaster-oven size.
Equipped with cameras; some feature megaphones and spotlights; operational to -20°C.

Additional tactical equipment¶

Carbines (patrol rifles)
8 sniper rifles (with 4 more on order)
Night vision goggles
Less-lethal weapon system firing tear gas and plastic projectiles

Cost: $370,000

Funding context¶

EPS received a vague capital budget allocation for "specialized police equipment" worth $6.8 million (2019–2022) with minimal public disclosure or oversight.
2020 EPS operating budget was approx. $373 million from the City of Edmonton.
