The Axon facial-recognition body-cam proof-of-concept is the later of two separate EPS facial-recognition episodes, confirmed through an EPS press release.

Here the confirmation is an EPS press release. The proof-of-concept was billed as world-first. It runs a watchlist of roughly 7,000 faces across up to 50 officers, and the Edmonton Police Commission decides its future in 2026.

This is a separate, later episode from the 2019-20 Clearview AI incident, and the two stay apart on purpose. The cost is undisclosed and sits on top of the $16M body-cam program. We don't invent numbers, so it enters the reconstruction at $0 by choice.
