Edmonton police plan to spend $3.6M on new Glocks and Tasers

CONFIRMED (council budget request, 2019).

• EPS sought city-council approval to spend $3.6M over five years: $1.6M on new pistols + $2M on Tasers.
• Pistols: moving from .40-calibre Glocks (10-yr recommended lifespan, most older) to 9mm Glocks (less recoil, greater accuracy).
• Tasers: Taser X26 models past lifespan; in 2017 decided to move to Taser X2 (described as "the most recent and technologically advanced" CEW). (Later moved to Axon TASER 7 in 2022 — see axon-taser7-canada-cities-2022.md.)
