Project Fisk lawsuits against EPS (CBC, Oct 2021)

Cluster of civil suits arising from EPS's "Project Fisk" investigation (landlord Abdullah Shah / Carmen Pervez matter) and the detective (Behiels) who alleged corruption. These are CLAIMS (amounts sought), not confirmed settlements/payouts.

Amounts CLAIMED (verbatim from CBC via search snippet, 2026-07-03)

  • Shairose Esmail — defamation suit filed March 2021 vs EPS spokesperson Scott Pattison, Chief Dale McFee, and retired Supt. Trent Forsberg, seeking $1.95 million in damages.
  • Jennifer Vuong — amended her own $5-million lawsuit naming 38 people incl. Forsberg, Pattison, McFee, former chief Rod Knecht, Behiels, the City of Edmonton, and the Government of Alberta. Claims police wrongly identified her as a person of interest in an organized-crime probe.
  • Sarah Fassmann and Tony Singh (Shah associates) — separate $1.95 million civil suits each against police (filed the following June).
