Pacey Dumas v. EPS (Const. Ben Todd, Chief Dale McFee, six John Doe officers)

Incident

December 9, 2020 — during a weapons-complaint search, Const. Ben Todd allegedly kicked Pacey Dumas (Indigenous teenager) in the head with such force he lost consciousness and suffered a skull fracture requiring surgery. Lawsuit calls it "high handed, malicious and highly reprehensible misconduct."

Amounts CLAIMED (verbatim, this is a claim not a settlement)

  • $400,000 general and punitive damages for Pacey, plus lost income and future care costs
  • $20,000 from each defendant personally for "false or misleading" statements
  • $75,000 each for mother Irene and brother Blair (depression, anxiety, PTSD, fear of police)
